FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO YOU OFFER A DISCOUNTED TRIAL?
Yes we do! We have an introductory sale of any 3 classes for $49. Up to you which three classes you would like to do, however we encourage you to try a variety of our classes.
IS THERE MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS?
Yes we have two types of memberships. We offer both 2 x Weekly Memberships, or 4 x Weekly Memberships! Please refer to the pricing page for the prices.
CAN I BRING MY KIDS?
We have child minding on Wednesday and Friday at 10am! Children are most certainly welcome, we have a sitting area for the big kids to chill, however I ask that you bring something to entertain them for the class. Outside of our childminding hours, I please ask that your little ones stay in the pram, out of harms way, or the bubs (under 12 months) can be on the ground beside you on a mat or incorporated into your workout. We will try to be as helpful and accommodating as we can be to ensure our Mummas are moving but if you choose to bring your children they are your responsibility.
DOES IT MATTER IF I'VE NEVER DONE PILATES BEFORE?
Not at all! Our classes can be adapted to suit all abilities. If you are nervous or think you may need one on one attention, I'd advise you to book in for a 1:1 session or grab a friend and book in for a 2:1 session to get started.
I'M 70, IS PILATES SOMETHING I CAN DO?
Of course, all ages are encouraged. We run an 'Active Adults 50 and up' reformer class that you can join. I can adapt any of our classes to ensure you are completing the movements safe and effectively. However, I'd suggest booking a private session for your first one, so we can assess your strength and balance and discuss how we can best achieve your specific goals.
HOW WOULD PILATES COMPLIMENT THE TRAINING I'M ALREADY DOING?
Pilates works to strengthen you're entire body, specifically your core and glutes. It improves flexibility, coordination, and balance as well as improves posture. For many, Pilates also provides relief from pain associated with physical imbalances, and works to reduce the risk of injury and promotes healing. Pilates enhances effective muscle recruitment which allows an athlete to generate optimal power and improves movement patterns. This means improved speed and strength as well as reduced tightness and stiffness, resulting in efficient performance, equipped with more stamina and less muscle fatigue.
I'M PREGNANT, AM I ABLE TO PARTICIPATE?
Of course, in fact I strongly recommend you do, even if you've never done Pilates before. During pregnancy the weight of your baby plus the hormonal changes can weaken your pelvic floor muscles. Pilates is a great way to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles to provide support to your bladder and bowel and reduce the risk of incontinence that could develop during or after your pregnancy.
It also improves overall general strength which effectively prepares your body for birthing as well as recovery and life afterward, promotes pelvic floor health, and helps prevent or manage diastasis recti (abdominal seperation). In the 1st trimester you can still participate in regular reformer classes but please quietly let the instructor know! In the 2nd and 3rd trimester you may start to feel discomfort and as your posture changes due to the development of the baby, we will adapt sessions to ensure they are safe and comfortable for you and bub.
If you are wanting extra attention or have been directed by your womens health/pelvic floor physio, please book a 1:1 private session so we can focus solely on you and bub. I will work alongside your physio to prescribe specific exercises to ensure you remain comfortable and supported so you can continue to exercise all the way to 40 weeks.
I HAVE JUST GIVEN BIRTH, WHEN CAN I START PILATES?
Every birth story is different, whether you've had a c-section or vaginal birth, I strongly recommend you seek a postnatal physiotherapy review from a Women's Health Physio to assess pelvic floor changes, abdominal separation and check your general body alignment. This will ensure we embark on the right recovery journey, specific and unique to your story. Each person may differ, but often once you have your Physio clearance at six weeks, and are feeling ready, you are welcome to join.
